Jeremy and Crystal

Jeremy hated parties. He was at one only because Hill Martin, the owner of Martin's Plastics and one of the biggest purchasers of his office machines had insisted he come and enjoy his hospitality. He was ensconced in a back corner near an exit, with a double scotch watching the people frantically try to have fun wondering when he could safely leave.

Suddenly a woman literally fell into his lap knocking his scotch from his hand and the breath from his body. She fell onto the floor and being a gentleman once he could breathe he reached out to help her up again.

He smiled down at her for she was a little thing and asked, "Are you alright?"

He noticed first she was crying, and then that she was beautiful. A petite version of a Goddess, he offered her his handkerchief. She blew her nose and then turning it to a dry side to bloat her tears.

"No, please take me away from here. I was wrong to ever come at all." He didn't hesitate. He picked up his coat, asked if she had one? She shook her head no, and together they went through the French doors near his table and out onto the patio. ...
