I stared quietly out the window at the snow-covered mountains below, the seatbelt cinched snugly across my waist and my hands knotted tightly in my lap. There came a perceptible drop in the rumbling tone of the engines, and the plane began its gentle descent into Denver International Airport.

I let my head fall back against the seat with a sigh, closing my eyes as my heart began to pound in anxious anticipation. In less than half an hour, I'd be on the ground, I realized fully. On the ground, making my way through an unfamiliar airport, dragging a suitcase full of brand-new winter clothes that I'd chosen with HIM in mind, in preparation for a five-day vacation in Vail that I'd never thought I'd take.
