This story is plucked from the middle of a much more involved effort, so some of the setting may not make complete sense, but trust me, this guy is here for a reason. Anyway, our hero is living in a log home overlooking a Montana lake. He was hoping for more rustic surroundings, but that didn't work out. So he is sleeping on the floor of the storage room and pretending he is in the wilderness.

June 7, Monday.

The neighbors moved in for the summer over the weekend. Apparently, they do this every year. From the look of things, it is just mom and the girl. Dad left about 4 yesterday in the Porsche. I didn't see him, but there is no mistaking the sound of the Cayenne's exhaust. He obviously makes some serious bucks, and no doubt was just heading back to Missoula so he could go to work today.

He must have pulled the boats out of storage somewhere back in town, cause I watched him motor down the lake twice on Saturday, once with the ski boat and once with the little aluminum fishing boat. Both are now bobbing alongside the pier down slope from their house. They have matching blue canvas covers to keep out the rain.

The gardeners mowed the lawn and straightened up the landscaping last week sometime when I was out of the cabin. The pool guy came on Thursday and cleaned up the hot tub, deck, and the pool. The maids went ...
