"A fitting end, my lord," Abd-al-Rahîm congratulated his friend with a strange accent as Barclay Camberley withdrew his spear from the large boar's neck.

"Thank you, Rahîm, different from that of the endless sand at home, eh?" Clay joked as he wiped his spear clean on the grass. One of his men stabbed the boar's heart while the others prepared to tie it to the spare horse. "A fine brute indeed," commented Clay as he swung onto his horse. He stretched his arms and neck. "I should be used to long times on horseback, I suppose the long months at sea have softened me old friend, come, let us return to Bromfield with our catch."

Rahîm pulled his mount along side Clay's as they cleared the forest line. Beyond them, on a rise in the hill was Bromfield, its four large stone towers glowing in the late afternoon sun. They would not reach Bromfield by nightfall, because they had to ride around the base of the hill to reach it, although it could be seen it could not be accessed from this side of the hill. The men soon joined them forming a line, the boar in center as they set out to return home.
