My name is Ray and I've just come home from college for the Christmas break. I'm looking forward to the time away from college for at least a month. This has been my first semester as a freshman at the university of Maine and during this term I have felt somewhat overwhelmed. So, when I got home, I was glad to see my mom and dad, who always support me in all that I attempt to do.

After arriving home, mom, dad and I sat down and talked about all that had gone on during the past five months. It seemed that a new couple had moved next door about three months ago. Mom described them as an elderly couple in their sixties that pretty much stayed to themselves except that they went to the same church as my parents. Mom said that the woman was very pleasant and always seemed to have a smile on her face. Her husband, however; seemed to be gone most of the time, so they didn't get to know him very well.

The discussion continued on almost every subject that they could think of. As the night wore on, mom got sleepy, so we all said our "goodnights" and went to bed.

The next morning presented itself as a beautiful, sunny, and somewhat breezy day. But compared to the weather in Maine, it was almost a scorcher.
