Life since the departure of Katie had been difficult. Sure, Francesca was making an effort to patch up her broken heart, but it was slow going. Katie and Francesca had lived together for five years, and had shared much more than a home. Katie had shown Francesca, who at the time was in a very unhappy marriage, the joy and sheer ecstasy of a relationship with other women. Then, just as suddenly as Katie had breezed into Francesca's life, she left-two screaming fights and a U-Haul later and Katie was little more than a painful memory.
