After a long day at work, full of meetings and phone calls, I was exhausted. My good friend Chris was flying in from out of town and while I was looking forward to seeing him, I was not looking forward to the trip to and from the airport. My girlfriend, Stacy, hasn't ever met Chris and I was glad they would finally get to meet. Chris and I went to school together, but moved to California shortly after graduation. We get together periodically to play golf or go on a scuba diving trip. Both of us our active and stay in shape, but Chris is a good 4 inches taller than my 5'9" self.

After getting to my car, I called Stacy and told her I was on the way to the airport. She said she had already made the guest bed up for Chris and had a few snacks and drinks ready for us.

After picking up Chris curbside at the airport, we headed back towards home. I was surprised to see that Chris had tipped his hair with blond highlights, which contrasted against his dark brown hair. I made a joke about it, as Chris was not one to jump on the fashion fad train. Chris and I updated each other on our lives as we wove our way through traffic. Spring was approaching and the days were starting to get longer. Rain lightly spattered the windshield as we pulled in the driveway.

I helped Chris with his luggage and we walked in the front door. I gave Stacy a hug and kiss. She was already in her pajamas, purple cotton ...
