This was a story I wrote with a friend over instant messaging. For the most part the individual paragraphs are me and then her and then me again respectively. Hope you enjoy this style.

Ardansal walked purposefully through the corridors, the sounds of students learning their magic came distantly to him. He wore the purple robes of an Arch-magi Master with a runic insignia across the front that identified him as the owner of this school. He entered his office and sat at his desk, thankful that he didn't have any appointments for the day, though that often didn't stop eager students or disciples from coming to him with their concerns. He brushed his raven black hair back behind his ears and began to go over the papers and tomes in front of him with his amber eyes.

Nerial was a human who realized her magical abilities a bit later than most would. Thus she had become one of the oldest in her skill line. She was 19 years of age, and had the skill level of some of the children in the school. Though her progression was coming along nicely, it was still not good for her age. She sighed as she looked down at her task, which at the moment seemed impossible. She didn't quite understand it, and would need a little extra help. She walked up to the Master's office, knocking on it and waiting for him to answer. Besides being behind for her age, the master himself seemed to be a distraction for her, she liked him in a way, but usually dismissed ...
