I Love College

Going to college four hours away from home definitely has its share of advantages and drawbacks. Phone bills definitely add up, homesickness does set in, and the car rides are a pain. But, sometimes when you least expect it, one of these drawbacks turns into a positive.

About a month into school, I was in my room using instant messenger to talk to the one other girl from my high school who went to my college, when we got talking about making a road trip home sometime soon. We were both low on school supplies (mountain dew, potato chips, beer money) and decided if we went home for a weekend our parents would probably help us out. So, the next weekend my friend Ally, her roommate Sarah who I had never met, and I would all drive back to our home. It was shaping up to be a pretty normal road trip, and I had the week to go before we would leave.

As Friday morning rolled around, I had my stuff packed and in the car when I got a phone call. It was ally, saying that she wasn’t going to be able to make the trip (She had apparently met a new guy at a party and wanted to spend the weekend with him...) but Sarah still wanted to go with me as far as Columbus to visit her friends from home. I was a little upset that I wasn’t going to have Ally there to keep me company on the ride home, but also a little intrigued to meet Sarah. So, I told ally to tell her I would be there around 7pm after my last class ...
