The argument started last night while they were watching the 1960s-based television show American Dream. It began as a simple discussion about their past relationships - nothing they hadn't discussed a thousand times before - but somehow this time it turned into an argument - a nasty one. This morning he didn't even remember what it was that got things on the wrong track, but it really went downhill before all was said and done.

In anger, she said some things that stung him. He fired right back at her - words he regretted as soon as they left his mouth. When they went to bed, instead of her resting her head on his chest and him wrapping her up in his arms until they drifted off to sleep as usual, they lay on the edges of either side of their bed as far apart as they could get with their backs turned defiantly toward each other. He lay awake for hours wishing that he could turn back the hands of time. She tossed and turned as well.
