The Seduced

Emily Lewis stepped outside of the bus terminal and lifted the newspaper in her hand above her head. Large cold pellets of rain thwarted downwards from the grey sky above. By the time she identified the number on the bus she was to ride, the soaked newspaper had left little protection against the wetness. She frowned for her clothes were now clinging damply to her skin.

She mounted the steps of the bus and sighed with relief. Lowering the newspaper, she looked around and found a small trashcan underneath the dashboard. Letting the newspaper drop, she looked up and smiled at the bus driver who had been watching her with amusement. She knew she looked a mess. Her damp hair clung to her face and small tendrils met the corners of her mouth. Lifting her hand, she handed the driver her ticket.

The driver looked down at the ticket briefly and then commented, "You are seated in the very back. Number thirty."

Emily strolled down the isle. Only the lights inside the bus lit the path as she searched for her number. When she identified her seat, she bit her lip and began tugging down the straps of the duffle bag hanging ...
