Jason was an inteligent but timid young man, and Erin a studious but friendly young woman, when the two met for the first time. It was their first day of High School, and both were feeling excited but nervous as they entered that next stage in their lives. They had the same third period class, and met for the first time in the hallway outside it. She introduced herself, and Jason overcame his usual shyness and joined her in conversation. Within five minutes, they had become good friends - this friendship intensified over the next several months and soon, although they were both afraid of actually entering a relationship, almost everyone else in the school considered them as together. They each had a major crush for the other, but neither of them had ever before had a boyfriend or girlfriend. They playfully flirted with each other, but it did not go beyond that.

Their friendship continued to grow over the next few years, and in the summer after 10th grade Jason got his driver's license. Starting that summer, they began to hang out together more and more. They did not actually consider themselves to be dating, but everyone else could see the spark between them. This continued through eleventh grade - and still neither had been in a relationship, neither had experienced so much as a first kiss. By the end of eleventh grade, they were going out together at least once a week, and talking on the phone almost every day. By that time literally everyone considered them a unit - but they still stubbornly asserted that they were "just friends." It was not until their Senior year that they finally acknowledged it ...
