Deep heavy sighs fell from my pursed lips. Cory was such a wonderful distraction from the disaster that had unfolded in Colorado. It was so sad to watch him go. We agreed to see each other again but it was a casual agreement and I had to wonder at myself. Had I gone soft? Did the young nubile Cory make a chip in the icy façade that is Syn? I laughed out loud. He was fun yes, but a heart breaker? No.

With a light heart I showered, leaving my blonde hair loose and damp I dressed and hurried to my studio downtown. I didn't have anything special lined up for the day but I did want to check on my assignments before I made plans. The day was a softer version of autumn, there really isn't a season change in Florida, it's either warm, hot or hotter. I had on a pair of jeans, my favorite sandals and loose white shirt, tied at the waist. I felt good, airy. Today was a careless day. I didn't feel those pangs of desire twisting throughout my body. For a moment I was satisfied, however, I knew all too well the feeling wouldn't last.

Climbing the few steps to the door of the building that housed my studio I pulled open the heavy door and was greeted by a blast of cool air. The air conditioning stays on nearly all year in Florida. God forbid people should get warm in a tropical climate. Musing at the idiosyncrasies of the residents of the various places I called home, I waited for the elevator.
