It began with an afternoon call.

A close friend of mine was going through some troubled times. It seemed all but forgone that she and her boyfriend of many years would go their seperate ways. To be fair, it was indeed her that initiated the breakup. But I can understand the conflicting emotions that are inherent in the end of a longterm, meaningful relationship.

So when she called in tears while he was away on buisness for a few days, expecting the final break to come when he returned, my support was offered instantly. I threw a few things in a bag and went over to spend the night at their apartment, so we could talk and work it out.

When I got there we hugged and cried for a bit. Took a walk and picked up some fast food. I had brought a stack of movies with me for the night, for a backround to our chatting. They were still close, and when they discovered they were in the area, they decided to call and come over and cheer her up. After conferring with me I told her that it was a good idea, and to have them come on over.
