It is now almost exactly a year ago since I found out that my wife of eight years had been unfaithful. That moment, although painful at the time, has led me to where I am now and, even if I were able to, I wouldn't change thing.

It was early one Saturday morning in September. It was still only half light, and I awoke to see Susan leaning over me, her face close to mine.

‘Are you awake?' she asked.
