JOYS OF THE FUTURE

18th July, 2050

As you know, today was my 16th birthday, a very important day for me. Not because it meant I was now at an important crossroads in my life, but because this morning I received the present I had been waiting for: the 'Nendindo 2050'. This is the most state of the art home console on the market. Well, I say console, they went out years ago, everything is done in virtual reality nowadays: communications, the net, business, and video games. This contraption takes the form of a TV size metal box, with leads connected to an all over body suit, which stimulates the body according to surroundings, and detects brain messages which affect your movements in the game. I immediately rushed up to my room: there was more than one reason I wanted this machine. It boasted that the game possibillities were endless, that it was no different from real life, and it also had an X-rated mode I had read. Of course, my parents knew none of this. So anyway, I plugged in the Nentindo, and then climbed into the brand new web suit. I switched the machine on and slid down the visor.
