Jubal by Chet O

Jubal is what I called him because I could not understand what he said. That is not too surprising considering that I was not at "home." Not in my home country that is. The island that I found myself on was somewhere in the south Pacific. The few people here are all that survived a sea emergency landing of our chartered plane. Most of us are older folks. Where Jubal was going or where he is from I have no way of knowing. Possibly, he is a slave or servant of some one that was aboard and no longer lives. That applies to most passengers.

I awoke after the crash cradled in his strong arms. It frightened me at first because of his dark face that was a little bloody to boot. He tried to smile but it must have hurt him to do so. After he laid me on the top of the beach area, he removed -- very carefully - the torn and bloody clothes that did little to cover me. I noticed my shoes were gone, as were his. His huge feet looked like they really didn't need any - as rough and callused as they appear.

When I next awoke, I was laying naked in the sand with 'Jubal' lying next to me, asleep and also naked. This was my chance to really look him over. Tall, big, and heavy were the thoughts that swarmed through my mind as my eyes caressed his dark frame. I did not see any scars or tattoos on him.
