It was midnight as they left the salon. The sound of the dancing and the orchestra faded as they strolled along the deck. A full moon reflected a long pathway across the rippling ocean. She leaned against the rail, and he stood behind her, lost in wonder at the contrast between her honey coloured skin and the white of her cotton dress.

"It's so beautiful", she sighed.

"Yes", and before he could stop them, the words tumbled from his mouth, "So are you."

She turned to him, smiling. "Thank you, sir" then she giggled a little and gave a coquettish courtesy. As she did so the front of her dress gaped momentarily, allowing him a brief glimpse of the dark shadow between her breasts. He though his heart would stop.

Still facing him she leaned back against the rail. The sound of the ocean was all that could be heard as the ship cut its way through the waves. He looked so young, but so handsome dressed as he was in his Hussars uniform. She shuddered slightly in the cool evening breeze. "It's turning cool. I'd better go back to my cabin."

"I'll see you to your door."
