Almo had not planned it, but when his folks passed away he just stayed on. He wasn't interested in farming, so he just let the animals be content, grow old, and pass away in their time. The weeds and grasses grew however they wanted. He never started the mower. The place appeared to him most interesting as it was naturally. To better fit in with the nature of things - he went nude most of the time.

Far to the front of the place, on the other side of the small lake was a two-story store. It was one that his father had built. It never did anything. His father just wanted it to sell the produce from the farm at a fair price. No one came way out here miles from the nearest town.

While in town one day he noticed a somewhat rundown older woman and what he thought might be her son sitting on a pile of miscellaneous luggage, forlorn, and definitely unhappy. Everyone was ignoring them as they sat in front of the bus station waiting, with tears in the lady's pretty eyes.

Screwing up his courage (he is known to be extremely shy), he approached them. "Good morning, Mam,' I'm Almo Marsh. Could I be of assistance? People in this little ‘burg are not very friendly. I've lived here all my life and I know."
