They could not find any shade anywhere along the side of the road in the Glen, so they parked the car as close to the start of the path as they could. The trail began across the road. A series of stairs climbed up the side of the mountain for about 50 feet in a steep incline. They crossed the road and began the ascent with Lions Head towering 500 feet above them.
