I sat impatiently through the endless wedding ceremony. It was literally and figuratively, a pain in the rear end. I was after all, seated on a wooden platform, in front of a burning fire, on a summer day.

Well, I'd gotten myself into it. After years of avoiding marriage and simply dating several women, I'd finally agreed to a perfectly "arranged" marriage as most people term this still typical Indian style of finding a mate. My parents had chosen a bride for me. And here she was, seated right next to me.

Now, I had to admit that my folks had surprised me. I'd never have thought that they knew what kind of woman I found attractive. I had lived in the big cities the last twelve years and had never introduced a single woman I had dated to my family. I had never felt that they'd understand. My family lived in a village. My parents were rich, very rich, but they weren't educated or sophisticated. I was different however. I thirsted for urban success, for material things and for a life I saw as seductive, out there in the city. The city women I adored, lusted after and was soon banging one after the other, after I'd left home. Yet, after all those years and getting tired of the dating scene, I found my parents had found for me a woman I found instantly attracted to.
