When Emily answered the knock on her door she found Julia standing there smiling but with concern in her eyes.

"I think we need to talk." Said Julia without any preamble.

Emily wanted to say 'no'. She wanted to say 'let's just forget about it'. Instead Emily just looked rather sheepish, stood aside and ushered Julia into the house, quickly closing the door behind her.

They stood in the hall for a moment or two in an uncomfortable silence.
