Kim and I had been trying to make ends meet for the last couple of months after losing my job through a layoff at the only factory in town.

We had missed our rent payment for the last month and the next months rent was fast approaching.

We rented from a guy named Frank who owned several homes in town. He was a young guy..in his twenties. His family also owned the factory that I was laid off from.

Frank had gone to school with my younger brother.....he was an asshole.....lots of money and not afraid to let everyone know he had it. Fancy cars and lots of girlfriends...enough to make a hard working guy like myself puke.

Kim and I were in quite a situation. We had a 2 year old daughter and financially we were in big trouble. There was no other work in town...but there was hope as a new Auto plant was rumoured to be opening in the next year or so. Kim and I committed to doing whatever we could to get bye until then....so we could avoid moving out of town.

We decided to ask Frank to come over and talk about cutting us some slack on the rent for a few months until we could get back on our feet. ...
