Ed hunter came home one day quite exhausted. Business was brisk and he'd had to spend a lot of time working out a shipping deal with a ship owner down near the docks. Savannah was a thriving little port city and many of its goods were shipped to Europe and the North. A grower had two choices, he could deal directly with the ship owner to get a price for his goods, or he could work with a factor who would purchase the goods and deal with the ship owner.
