The party continued in the living room while Divya busied herself in the kitchen getting more food for the guests. In the sanctity of her kitchen she could barely hear the laughter and loud talk in the other room. Still, she hadn't heard the door to the kitchen swing open, but sensed a presence in hte room with her. Turning, she saw Rajeev, her husband's boss, standing in front of her. He stood quietly looking at her. She first noticed the softness to his eyes, but still, he had an aura of confidence and a commanding presence. This was the man making her husband's life so difficult at work and she was wary of him.

Divya, I know how important it is for the boss to have a good relationship with the people working for him," he said to her. "It was a great idea for your husband to throw this little party. I'm having a great time!"

Divya also knew things weren't going well for her husband, Tom, at work. He had complained so many times to her about the new manager in his department. He was too demanding, never satisfied and just a prick to work for according to her husband. Still, looking at him, he didn't seem like the ogre her husband had made him out to be, but she knew he held the key to the her husband's, and to the extent she was tied to Tom, her future as well. Maybe he was the brutish man her husband depicted him to be when he was at work, but right now, in her kitchen, he had an affable smile and seemed friendly enough.
