"Well, are you ready for this?" I look down at you and smile, trying to hide how desperately nervous I am inside. This is the first time I have given full rein to my imagination.

You smile up at me and nod. I know you must be as nervous as I am. This will be the first time you have spent the night in my apartment. The first time we have given ourselves to each other completely.

"Then let's go in." I reach into my pocket and pull out a key ring with a single key on it. "This is your first surprise tonight. This is your key to the apartment." You give a little gasp of surprise. "Any time you need or want to be here, you can. This is as much your home now as it is mine." I lean down and kiss you gently. "Now, let's see what is inside, shall we?"

I unlock the door, hand you the key and open the door wide. Inside, all is dark, hiding the surprises to come. I take your hand and lead you into the apartment. Just inside, the next surprise waits for us. In the dark you can't really see what is around you, and I can't wait to see your expression as the evening unfolds.

I lead you into the living room and help you sit on the blankets I have spread on the floor. For a moment longer, we sit in complete darkness, then you hear me strike a match and watch as the flame flares to life. I quickly light two candles, then reach into the fireplace and light ...
