The Last Pharaoh 6 By Will Buster

2024 B. C. E. It was an unusual situation. Pharaoh Iti had no issue. Although he regularly slept with three wives, no heir had been produced. This was particularly serious because the Theban pharaoh, Merikar, was a war lord and his well trained army was ever advancing into the outer territories of Memphis. To make matters worse, Iti was too young and immature to rule the two lands under such extremely dangerous circumstances. As a result, Imhotep was sent for.

The grand vizier, Intep was waiting for the high priest. Imhotep was precisely correct as usual as he was ushered into Intep's private chambers. "May the God, Amon Ra shine upon you, lord Intep. How may I be of service to you and our great one?"

Intep motioned Imhotep to a comfortable wood chair just across from him. An elegantly carved ivory table was situated between them. Some wheat cakes and goblets of wine had already been placed there by an obedient slave. Intep motioned for everyone to depart. Still the grand vizier said nothing. He motioned for Imhotep to keep silence and the highest ranking officer in the army of pharaoh quickly check the door to make sure no one was listening.

Intep reclaimed his seat and looked into the priest's cool, dark eyes. "You must know why you are here. The two lands require a new pharaoh." ...
