Solomon watched as the Egyptian ambassador was respectfully led to the steps of his throne. The solid gold chair rested on hand carved ivory steps. A rich carpet of purple and scarlet wool spread like a sacred walkway from the throne stairs to the brass doors some hundred cubits away. Guards in glittering armor stood on either side of the entrance while several court officials watched as the ambassador approached the Hebrew monarch. The Egyptian bowed respectfully in front of the man, reputed to be the wisest ruler in the known world.

"Peace and grace be with you, great king. My master Siamun of the two lands sends his greetings along with rich gifts to insure the continued peace between our two nations."

Solomon's smile was careful and reserved. His dark blue eyes flashed with intelligence and extremely shrewd awareness. "Welcome to our court, Lord Amoz. We were notified of your arrival. Welcome to Jerusalem. Do you have scrolls for us?"

Amoz nodded, "Of a truth, I do. They are still packed with my belongings, but what of that? I can have the messages from my master delivered in your hands as soon as you desire, great one." ...
