The Athlete and the Genius

TK came into her dorm room feeling depressed and lost. She had come to the university on a softball scholarship and she felt like she was going to lose it before she could ever take the field of a real game. She was one of the best high school players from her home state of California and that was saying a lot as that was where some of the best players came from. She chose to come halfway across the country to play for Herman and Lagina Renner, who were married and served as co-head coaches. They had convinced her that they were in the process of making a championship team and TK wanted to be a part of that, however things weren't quite as she had imagined them would be.

Things started to go wrong when she first met with Herman and Lagina in their office and they handed her the workout schedule that they expected her to follow during the fall term. She had done some weight lifting in high school but they had her going to the workout center three times a week to lift weights under the watchful eye of Jenna, the physical trainer and then run the other days of the week. She thought that she was in good shape when she got there but after the first week of running and lifting weights, she found that muscles she never knew she had were sore. Then came her statistics class, and she found that she and the professor weren't on the same wavelength.
