I rode deeper into the forest, anxious to get away from my pursuers. The men who had killed my father were now after me, and I had to get away.

As I neared the bottom of a ravine, my horse stumbled and I rolled off. The horse panicked and ran off. Now I was defenseless, unable to get away.

I heard the hooves of the approaching murderers. I hid behind a tree and waited, certain that I was about to join my father in death. Suddenly, I was grabbed from behind and a hand was clamped over my mouth, stifling my screams. A voice in my ear whispered to me to be quiet, that he would not hurt me. I obeyed.

The men rode on, unaware of our presence. After waiting a few minutes, my rescuer released me, and I spun around. Before me was a knight, strong and handsome. He looked at me and smiled, he said that he would not hurt me, and I instinctively believed him. He was tall, sandy brown hair and piercing blue eyes. He was the best looking man I had ever seen.

He asked me who I was and why those men were chasing me. I explained that I was a lady from a neighboring village and the men had robbed my father's castle and murdered him. I had fled, unable to find anyone to help me in the small village. ...
