I was laid off a couple months ago. I was getting nervous because the red tape to collect unemployment was taking so long. My first step when I heard that my job was going away had been to go to the temp agency that our company used to use. Luckily, I'd developed some pretty marketable skills during my time at the job. At least that's what Kim told me. Kim is the "staffing counselor" who tested me and went over my application to find out what types of work I was interested in. I maintained a professional tone throughout the interview, but it took some effort.
