I have loved electronics since Grade School and since that time I have kept up with technology as components have gotten smaller and smaller. I remember building a large mosquito repellant oscillator from an old Popular Electronics Magazine, which worked quite well against, yes Repelling Mosquitoes. The way it worked, you adjusted the frequency (that you could hear with your ears) to the wing beat of the male mosquito, which is different than the female wing beat. Evidently, the female avoided the male by listening to the frequency of the male's wing beat. The female is the one that bites you and draws blood to fertilize her eggs or some such. So, you adjusted your little oscillator sound when a female buzzes you, until it repels her. Once the frequency is set, all you had to do then was, "Push the Button" and it drives away biting mosquitoes; at least that was the theory. It seemed to work quite well, if you adjusted it correctly. That activity and electronic design was a long time ago.

I was now in the middle of trying to finish my Biomedical-Electronics Engineering Degree in college. I needed to graduate in Human Psychology, Using Technology Effecting the Human Mind. I unfortunately had to take a summer quarter of Biology so I could take the normal schedule during my regular fall quarter. The good thing was, I met Karen. I had plenty of time on my hands otherwise because of summer school, so I decided to build a few of those electronic mosquito ...
