Austin was a skinny nerd in high school, and played the clarinet. We had band together but the following school year, he quit. I no longer had any classes with him, but still ran into him in the hallways from time to time.

By the time we were seniors, he had started to work out, Still on the skinny side, I noticed that he had finally gotten rid of the bowl haircut and got a more contemporary style.

A few years went by and everytime I went to the mall with my best friend, we would run into him. He worked somewhere in the mall. I forget well but I remember teasing him about his "work uniform" of dress pants, dress shirt and tie. He would then tease me about being unemployed. Hey, I worked hard all school year in college to maintain my position on the Dean's List so the summers were for fun. Oddly enough, if I ever went to the mall without my best friend, I never ran into Austin. That all changed one day.

"Hey Donna!"
