Last week, my wife and her sister made plans to go visit their mother about ten hours away by car, leaving on Sunday. With her sister being five hours from here in the wrong direction, she decided to come to our place and drive with my wife. As luck would have it, my sister-in-law (Jodie) got a drive here with a neighbor of hers who was coming to visit his daughter who was here at university. They got here on Friday morning, but my wife was working, until 7:30 Friday evening so I had to go meet her and bring her back to our house.

Friday afternoon, we just sat around gabbing, leaving the house for an hour or so to go for coffee. From the conversation we had, it seemed like something was bothering Jodie because she was not in the same joking mood as she usually was. Not wanting to get involved with her personal problems, I avoided discussing anything about her mood.

On Thursday, my wife had a shift from 10:00 to 6:00, and Jodie and I were home alone. I was sitting on the couch reading the newspaper and she came and sat beside me and took part of the paper. She was really close to me, but I didn't think anything of it. When we finished the paper, she started talking about her husband's long work day and his moodiness around the house.
