Chapter 19

It took a little doing but Kal scheduled his MTV trips so that he was back at the base for the first teleportation test. Jack and Al were in room 730 when the test time was at hand. Kal turned on the computer and placed the appropriate cube in the terminal. He made sure the receptor power was on and then they waited. They watched as the appointed time arrived. Sure enough, a few seconds later a glowing spot appeared at the center of the receptor. It grew in size and brilliance and then a small object appeared. It turned out to be a gold coin in a hermetically sealed plastic container. It was a one-ounce $20 gold piece with the date 1876 clearly visible. Jack whistled, "It's a bloody miracle!"

The major replied, "Let's make sure it hasn't been damaged." Kal picked up the sealed coin and proceeded to perform a series of tests on it to insure it was what it was supposed to be. He weighed it and put it through a small spectrometer and performed several other tests. Finally he said, "Well gentlemen, you see here a genuine, undamaged 1876 S twenty dollar gold piece. It and its container seem no worse for wear considering that all the molecules have been broken down and sent as electronic sub atomic particles and reconstructed here. All I need to do now is send the confirmation code." ...
