Reid looked up from his book and gave the pretty girl a half-hearted salute then went back to reading - or, at least, pretending to read.

His roommate shut the door behind her and turned to return to the kitchen to clean up the breakfast dishes.

"Sorry if she bothered you," Ike said. "I know I didn't ask."

"It's no big deal," Reid said, still looking at his book. "You don't forget very often."

"Yeah, but you never do."

"I never have any opportunities for overnight guests," Reid scoffed.

"Could if you wanted to," Ike said, beginning to stack up the dishes. They rented a trailer together just a few blocks away from campus and the kitchen was open to the front room.

"I don't have time to meet girls," Reid said irritably.

"Yes you do, you just don't."
