Natalie clicked off the T.V., bored of the reruns of stupid sitcoms playing on a slowly passing Friday night, and looked at her watch.

“Only 8:00?!” she asked out loud, thinking it HAD to be later than that. She sighed and stood up, thinking about how quiet the house was, since her parents and sister had gone to California on a business convention, and her other sister was at a sleepover at a friends house. Her best friend was at work and her boyfriend wouldn’t be home until late. She walked to the kitchen, got a drink of water, and decided that she would turn in early tonight.

She walked up the stairs, making sure to lock the front and back doors first, and went to the bathroom.

“I think I’ll take a long, relaxing bath tonight,” she said, again to herself, turning on the water in the bathtub. “It’s amazing how much you start relying on yourself for conversation when no one else is around,” she said, smiling and shaking her head.
