David awoke with a start. He had been attempting to stay awake for the past three hours with much success. It wasn't until the rain started to poor down on the small guard shack that he started to loose this particular battle with slumber. He had started to drift off when the sound of thunder snapped him back to the world around him.

He stood up and looked around for something to keep his mind alert. There was a woman standing quietly at the edge of the shack, watch in the street below. She was a pâté girl who was wearing a uniform that was several times to big for her. She stood there with a quite grace that David took a moment to admire before speaking to her. But before he could do that the woman spoke. "Petty Officer Freeman what do we do if it starts raining up here. It's starting to comer down petty hard." She turned to look at him as David was rubbing his eyes. "Dozing off on me huh, we will have none of that now" she said smiling. "Christine, how many times do I have to tell you that you can just call me Freeman." He said returning the smile. David looked down at his watch and saw that the time was 2323 hours. "There isn't much we can do except try to stay dry for the next few minutes until our relief gets here."

No more than a few minutes passed, and sure enough the reliefs came. But buy this time the rain was coming down as if flood gates in the sky had been opened. David and Christine hurried inside the ship that the guard post had been resting on. But by the time they made it inside the two ...
