My wife Deb and I had been married for a year and the house we were renting had become too expensive for us. We found a nice place in a different part of town where the rent was much less and the house was almost as nice.

I had enlisted a bunch of friends to help us move. It's amazing what you can get guys to do for the promise of pizza and beer.

We finished moving everything to the new house at around 10PM. While most of them were local, a couple of the guys had come in from the city by train and I had promised to give them a lift home when we were done. I was pretty tired and had a good buzz on from the beer we had been drinking while unloading the last truckload. So, I asked the guys I had promised a ride if it was ok if I drove them home in the morning.

They agreed and we setup the living room with the TV on some boxes and arranged the couches and chairs around it. By 11:30 all the local guys had left. That left my wife and I, and the 2 guys from the city.

Carl was an army buddy of mine, we were in different units, but we were both from Boston, so we hung around together. Carl was also black, that didn't matter to me or Deb, but I thought I'd mention it. He was tall, about 6'1" and thin. Deb said he was a "Good looking guy".

Ron was a guy I worked with. He was an average looking guy, about 5'10", ...
