"Are you quite sure you don't want to join us tonight?" Mum asked. I was positive! My parent's parties were not the most exciting affairs, and the only thing going for them was alcohol.

"I'll be fine" I said. "I'll take a couple of beers to my room and catch up on a bit of reading for college"

"We could ask the Weston's to bring their son with them, Daniel isn't he called? He's your age" Dad said. That thought filled me with dread. Daniel had been in my year at school, and spending an evening with him would be my worst nightmare. Somehow, I managed to persuade my parents that they didn't need to provide "entertainment" for me for the evening whilst they sucked up to all their friends.

As the guests started arriving, I disappeared up to my room. I changed into my pyjamas, which were shorts and a vest top, and sat on my bed to start reading. The break from college was almost over, I was due back in less than a week and I hadn't done half of the reading I was supposed to. This was an ideal opportunity.

I lost track of the time, and I had no idea how long I'd been reading for, but I suddenly felt it was time for break. I turned on my CD player and lay back to listen to it. I could hear music and laughter from downstairs, it sounded quite a crowd. I heard someone outside my door in the hallway and then, the door opened and in walked a guy! ...
