It was located right next to a hardware store that always had whatever nut or bolt, pin or gadget I needed, as well as clerks who seemed to know all the intricacies of whatever had failed in the old house I rented. I didn't really notice it until one day there were no parking spaces available on the street in front of the hardware store and I had to park in the lot beside the block of stores.

Walking down the sidewalk, I glanced in the big display window and was quite taken aback by the contents: skimpy bikinis, lace teddies and filmy nightgowns adorned mannequins standing between offerings of more exotic items such as sheer panties, bras with the cups cut away, G-strings and shiny gold pasties. Embarrassed, I looked away quickly and hurried on to the hardware store.

I forget what I had gone to buy that day, but I remember that my mind kept going back to the contents of that display window, and I wandered around the store longer than necessary before finally paying for the odds and ends I had picked up. I headed back towards my car, eyes darting involuntarily to the right as I passed the window, footsteps slowing as I drew abreast and took in further details: sheer stockings, some with seams like those from the forties; garter belts, of course, and even a chastity belt!
