My mother started dating a really handsome man named Dave. He was tall, lean, muscular, and had dazzling green eyes. He held an air of confidence and was very intelligent. They seemed very happy, but I noticed he always seemed to watch me. I always felt his eyes on me. He used to be around all the time, and my mom really wasn't. As manager of a major retail outlet she was always busy working and she worked late hours. Eventually, he moved in.

Dave and I used to cook dinner together, watch TV on the couch together, and sometimes he would tickle me until I cried and we talked and laughed all the time. I thought he was incredible. One day I was feeling really sick and stayed in bed. He made me chicken soup and brought it up to my room on a tray with some fresh fruit and a glass of cold water and sat on the bed with me while I ate.

He sttood up and said "Stay there, I have something for you." I wasn't planning on going anywhere, I have a cold, I thought. He walked in with a soft fluffy pink bathrobe and a pair of soft silky pajamas.
