Unlike many guys who claim to have been having sex since they got out of diapers (they surely wouldn't be stretching the truth, would they?) my virginity seemed like it was going to be with me forever, or at least that's how it seemed to me. I had more than a few problems in being able to change my unwanted status as I was growing up. The 1st problem - I grew up in a small farming community where everyone knew everyone else's business. Everyone knew who was doing what to whomever and how often they did it. There weren't many secrets in that town.

The 2nd problem - I was tall, skinny as a rail, wore thick glasses and was almost painfully shy around girls. I was definitely lacking self-confidence. The 3rd problem - Most of the girls in town who were available and were known by stories shared by the guys to "put out" only "put out" if you had a car and were willing to go steady with them. They saw going steady as putting them on the fast track to finding some guy to marry and take care of them and their babies for the rest of their lives. I didn't have a car and definitely wasn't ready to settle down yet. The 4th problem - The girls who were willing to "put out" without going steady weren't available because their "date" calendar was booked up long in advance and I still didn't have a damn car.
