Emily had been friends with Matt for ten years, and roommates for eight of those years. They had met through their job, both being paramedics for St. Mary's Hospital. He had already been with the hospital for a year when she signed on after graduating from a local university. He had been kind enough to show her the ropes of it all, making her feel at ease being the new girl in town with the need to prove herself.

At the time, Emily had been dating a guy name Rick, which Matt and the rest of the crew quickly dubbed "Rick the Dick." She would be the first to admit now that he was a dick, but back then, she had been blind to his lies and secrets. One of those secrets had been her then best friend. They had been started sleeping together one day when her friend had stopped by one day while she was at work. Her friend later said that one thing had just led to another, and it got out of hand.

She had been stupid enough to forgive him, but on the condition that he never contact her friend again. He had agreed, and all seemed to be okay again. Emily had told all of this to the guys at work, every single one of them telling her she needed to drop his skeezin' ass, but she had brushed them off and continued dating Rick.

One night, Emily walked into her apartment that she had shared with Rick. She had placed her keys on the counter and hung her EMT coat up onto the coat rack. She was walking to the kitchen when she had her something coming from her room. She thought it was Rick just moving ...
