Brian's marriage never was what he'd expected from a marriage or what he'd seen in his friend's marriages. While his friend's marriage's compromised on anything big, Nora had to have her way on everything. If she didn't get her way she'd give Brian the silent treatment, and it would last for days, and for it to go on for weeks wasn't uncommon. When she'd get in her silent moods she'd lie in the bedroom and watch TV. She wouldn't cook or clean, and when it came to sex, well that wasn't an option no matter how much he needed it.

It seemed like he could never do or say anything right with Nora. They'd been married for better than twelve years, and when Brian looked back, it was twelve years of hell on earth.

He'd talked to several close friends about his pain just to get it out of his system. For some unknown reason by just letting other's know his pain it helped him deal with it. It was his way of blowing off steam.

He didn't want a divorce, he just felt they both needed to work harder and not walk away, but it seemed like he was the only one willing to put in the extra effort.
