Look After Yourself

I pushed open the door to the ladies only gym and walked into the reception. It was empty as I had anticipated, at 2pm on a Monday all of the noon hour exercise nuts had left to go back to the office. I knew that I would be nearly alone this afternoon and it was just what I wanted.

"Hi Ms. White." the young girl working reception called, Carla was her name I think. "Many people around Carla?" I asked feigning disinterest. "No everyone's gone back to work." came the answer. "You're the only member here, besides Anne and I." Anne was the other attendant during the daytime hours. Like most other gyms there were additional staff on hand during the busy pre-work, noon hour and after work periods to lead classes and cater to the whims of the female members. But during the quiet times there were usually only a couple of staff, one to man (or is that person) the front desk and one to assist the few members who might be there.

"Thanks" I said as I traded my membership card for a couple of thick towels and headed into the locker room. I'll say this much, even after 6 months the club still had nice thick soft towels to offer the members. The last club I was a member at kept their towels in circulation so long they were practically transparent from too many washings. If there's one thing I like is a nice thick towel to wrap up ...
