After the agency called on Friday afternoon to fill me in with the details for my new job on Monday I thought ‘at last, work'! No matter what happens I really need to keep this job, I was so broke.

I had been out of work for over five months and was desperately feeling the pinch. I was behind in my car payments, my rent, in fact anything that cost money I was behind on, and so this job was so going to save me from the worst possible time I had ever known. I had even lost touch with my friends, I had never known things to be so bad.

During the last 12 months I have been made redundant from a career job after 15 years, and my wife left me for some trumped-up chav 10 years her junior with a 30k a year sales job and who just happens to own a black 3 litre triumph Stag, all done up and gleaming like it just came off the production line. She'd also come off better than me with the house. She was still living in it, and with ‘him' and I'd still not received a penny off her for my half hence me renting a private flat of which I'm currently being threatened with eviction. I was quite literally on the breadline.

So when this job offer came I thought I really needed to make an impression and basically do ‘anything' to keep it!
