"Attention all passengers on Premium Air flight PF3392," announced the gate-lounge PA system, "for logistical reasons Premium Air will be operating this service on a larger aircraft than initially scheduled. Please take your ticketed seats upon boarding, and crew will provide further instructions."

Eric looked out the window toward the airbridge, larger aircraft was right. Instead of the Boeing 737 the flight was scheduled to use, a Boeing 747-400 was being towed to the gate. Soon the passengers, which would have three-quarter-filled the original 737 were boarded, and all packed toward the left hand side of the plane, owing to their ticketing being for a much smaller aircraft.

"Welcome on board Premium Air flight 3392 to New York. Thank you for your patience with this aircraft change," the cabin crew leader announced through the cabin, "for aircraft performance purposes we'd like to ask now, before we taxi away from the gate, for passengers to spread themselves throughout the main cabin."

There was a good five minutes of talking, laughing and general commotion while passengers gathered their carry-on bags and relocated themselves throughout the main cabin area. As the flight initially had no business or premium class seating, all the passengers were spread throughout the main economy area - around 100 people in a cabin that could seat closer to 500. ...
