Dave paused before leaving the hotel room to ensure he looked OK. Short-cropped hair neatly combed, and face cleanly shaven. Flying suit clean and not wrinkled. Clean t-shirt underneath.

Satisfied, Dave walked down to the lobby, and hailed a cab. He grinned inwardly at the stares from the people as he waited for the cab to arrive. Here in downtown Vancouver, they weren't used to seeing a military pilot in his flight suit. This was quite a change from the small town where he was stationed as a jet flying instructor - back there, they were used to seeing pilots like him, and his typical pilot's ego was stroked when people stared at him. As he climbed into the cab, he felt very happy - he had managed to get assigned to public relations recruiting duty at the Pacific National Exhibition (PNE) for two weeks, and all he had to do was smile and talk with the people while dressed up as a pilot - it didn't get any easier than that.

Dave had jumped at the occasion to take this duty. The PNE was full of hot babes, and it would be a great change of pace to get away from teaching students to fly. He loved Vancouver, and was looking forward to hanging around on the beach, chatting up women at the PNE, and living all-expenses paid at the hotel. This was like a vacation, and he was planning to make the most of it.
