Thin apartment walls: a blessing or a curse?

Wide awake and pondering that very question, I again looked over at the blood red digital display. That accursed clock on my nightstand was mocking me, I just knew it.

"That's right, you loser! It's now 2:13 a.m., and you're still staring at me!"

I shared a two-bedroom apartment with a guy named Bill, who had his girlfriend over that night. Despite having never met her, I already felt as if I knew her. For one thing, Bill had been bragging about her for months, constantly telling me that she was "so fun and so smart."
